Hot and cold...well cool

It is never boring when you live in Oklahoma.

Thank goodness we had pleasant weather for the YMCA Willowlake Triathlon. Thanks alot to those who helped. This was the shortest one I can remember. It was over about an hour and a half sooner than I expected. Next comes the Ambucs' Tour de Trykes labor Day weekend Saturday. A couple of weeks after that is the Cherokee Strip Parade and then Kite day a week after that. Would you believe we are having an Enid Lights Up The Plains meeting tomorrow (8/19). Think about the time we helped with the fireworks Thanksgiving Friday and the big snow flakes fell. That will help cool you off!

I have kind of let my ham operating go so I don't know personally how the bands are operating. I do know Gary Gerber made some long distance 2 meter contacts recently. Ducting is fun on those freqs. I have worked some Texas stations that way from here and used to do well in Louisiana. Guess I need to fire up the hf rig and see if I still know how to make a qso. I have a couple of low power 6 meter xcvrs and may play with the "magic band". Also think I will toss a 10 meter rig in the van and see how that is going. Hmm...I wonder how 10 would work on my cycle. I think that might be like texting and driving. Might wait til I am on the highway to try that. One thing about it there are alot of options in ham radio. Just remember to be safe.

Our familly recently got back from a week in Galveston. Salt water fishing, swimming, a visit to NASA...we had alot of fun. I even programmed a tone in my 2 meter rig and identified on a Galveston repeater. Made me feel like I was home...no one came back to me. I met a nice lady police officer on the way home. She didn't give me a ticket for speeding. Sorry I have kind of rambled but hey so does my mind.

Here is a closing thought. "I used to eat alot of natural foods until I found out most people die of natural causes.".

Ham radio isn't it a great hobby?!!!
